DANA ANASTASIA
“White Haze” (Live)
Bard Rock Studio Mobile Session, 2020
All proceeds from the sale of this song will go directly to the Chrystul Kizer Healing Fund. Chrystul Kizer is a survivor of multiple instances of child rape at the hands of a serial sexual predator and trafficker (her attacker filmed these assaults). Chrystul is facing life in prison for killing her attacker in self defense. She has been released on bond while she awaits trial, and all funds contributed to the fundraiser will go directly to her healing as she navigates this process.
Dana Anastasia (they/she) is a non-binary gender-fluid multidisciplinary artist and intersectional activist based in the occupied Snoqualmie Tribal region of the inland coastal northwest. Their music emanates from a place of deep relationship with the living landscape and serves as a space for expressing and engaging with grief and healing.
This song, “White Haze,” deals directly with the topic of childhood sexual abuse and the process of healing those wounds and reclaiming personal autonomy. Dana stands in solidarity with all survivors of abuse everywhere and hopes that each person carrying this weight has or can find a place where they feel heard, understood and believed.
Dana also serves as the Head of the Writing for Inner Sleeve Magazine.
